Keeping Up With the Kardashians
At one time we used to call it "Keeping Up with the Joneses". Fast forward to today and looking back, the Joneses were nothing compared to the standard that has been set today. How long ago were the days of spending with what you had and not what you could put on a credit card. Today's standard makes it almost impossible to say no to the things that we want but might not be able to afford. Challenge yourself to go one week without using your credit card. For most, this would prove to be impossible. In a recent article published in the Globe and Mail Kelley Keehn she talks about how, as Canadians, We don't say 'I can't afford it' anymore. She's right. Overspending and financial stress are a link that cannot be ignored. Our financial future depends on our relationship with money today. In a way, we're better off trying to keep up with the Joneses, at least then, we might have a few bucks left over at the end of the month.
